The Covington Green Up
The next Covington Green Up is Saturday, April 25, 2026.
The Covington Green Up is our biggest event of the year, held annually on the fourth Saturday of April. Formally known as the Great American Cleanup, this day is about more than just picking up trash - it's a community-wide day of action designed to bring neighbors together to accomplish projects which better their surroundings. It is an opportunity for neighbors, local businesses, and community groups to leverage funds and resources from KCB to transform shared spaces and show collective pride in our city. The goal is to create a cleaner, greener, and more welcoming environment for everyone.
How it works...
1 / Gather a group
Get a group together - we often partner with schools, churches, and neighborhood associations - and choose a public or public-facing site in Covington that could use some attention. Project possibilities are broad in scope, from picking up litter and gardening to public art, as long as the project contributes to the cleanliness and aesthetic of a public space.
2 / Register your site
Once you have a group and a project in mind, work together to determine what tasks and supplies you'll need. Then, elect a site leader to register your site with us. Registration opens in early March. The KCB team will review your plan and work directly with your site leader to ensure you have the support you need.
3 / Get your supplies
After registering, your group can apply for a KCB grant to help cover supply costs. You'll also get access to our free tool lending program with the Cincinnati ToolBank, making it easy to get the equipment you need. Tools can be conveniently picked up from the Hellmann Creative Center right here in Covington, along with free KCB t-shirts for your whole group!
4 / Make an impact!
On the day of the event, your group will head to your chosen site to get to work. Members of the KCB team will stop by to check on your progress, offer support, and personally thank you for all your hard work. Together, we'll make our city a cleaner, more beautiful place to live.
